One well-known product of Scotland is the strathspey. What is it?
A) A cake B) A dance ü C) A drink D) A garment
The strathspey is named for the valley, or strath, of the river Spey, Scotland’s second longest river. It is believed to have evolved from another dance, the reel, in the eighteenth century. The strathspey is in four-four time, and has a slowish tempo. It makes much use of the rhythmic figure called the “Scotch snap”, in which a short, accented note is immediately followed by a longer note.
