9. Days of oil and vinegar

What are "salad days"?

A) Days of youthful inexperience ü
B) Fasting days
C) Hot summer days
D) Times of prosperity

The phrase comes from Shakespeare’s Anthony and Cleopatra. Cleopatra, madly in love with Anthony, wonders if she could ever have loved Caesar so. She excuses herself for her past love for him on the grounds that those were, "My Sallad dayes, When I was greene in judgement, cold in blood". Some people now use the phrase differently, however, as meaning "the time when one’s powers are at their peak".
